Pre & Aftercare

Aestheink – Fine Line & Decorative Aesthetic Tattoos

Your skin preparation and aftercare are extremely important to ensure the best healed results. Please read the guidance below carefully.

Pre-Care (Before Your Appointment)

To help your skin be in the best condition for treatment:

24–48 hours before your appointment please avoid:
• Alcohol
• Caffeine in excess
• Blood-thinning medication (e.g. aspirin / ibuprofen) unless medically required
• Tanning or sunbeds
• Harsh skincare treatments such as peels, retinol or exfoliation near the treatment area

On the day:
• Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, creams or oils on the treatment area
• Eat beforehand and stay hydrated
• Avoid booking if you feel unwell
• Please inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy or medications

Lips:
• Keep lips moisturised in the days leading up to your appointment
• If you are prone to cold sores, you may wish to seek advice from your GP about preventative treatment

Brows / Eyeliner:
• Avoid tinting, lamination or lash extensions immediately before your appointment
• Do not wax or thread the area on the same day

Aftercare (First 7–10 Days)

Proper aftercare is essential for healing and colour retention.

Immediately after treatment:
• Mild redness, swelling and sensitivity is normal
• The area may appear darker or more defined at first

For the first few days:
• Keep the area clean and dry
• Avoid touching with unwashed hands
• Apply the recommended aftercare product sparingly
• Do not pick, scratch or peel any flaking skin

Avoid until healed:
• Swimming, saunas, steam rooms
• Heavy sweating / gym
• Sun exposure or sunbeds
• Makeup or skincare products directly on the area
• Facials or aesthetic treatments near the area

Healing process:
• Light scabbing or flaking may occur
• The colour will soften and settle over several weeks
• A touch-up may be required once healing is complete

Long-Term Care

• Always use SPF once healed
• Avoid aggressive skincare over the tattooed area
• Lifestyle, skin type and aftercare can affect longevity

If you experience unusual swelling, signs of infection or prolonged discomfort, please seek medical advice and inform Aestheink.
